I'm writing this when I'm supposed to be studying, but today is Tuesday and even though it's 11:35p.m, I have something to say.
I have found myself in the past week suddenly overwhelmed by the hand of God in my life. You see, everywhere I look I find reasons to give thanks.
This is not to say that everything is perfect around me or in me but I mean that when I look over my days, I see COUNTLESS little miracles that are actually in no way little. I'm surrounded by answered prayers, prayers about to be answered, journey mercies, laughter, strength to withstand the storms and big dreams on the way to becoming reality.
I am reminded that God truly provides. He might take a while but our God provides because He sees us and He knows each one of us by name.
The God who made the sun stand still for 2 days for a battle to be fought loves you and cares about the fact that your favorite shirt just doesn't look so great today. He cares about you deeply.
This is also the holiest week in the church year and Christ will be crucified for you and me this Friday. This always blows my mind. How can someone die for another person who will be born 2,000 years later? And who will be born into original sin?
Just like the word of God says, for an innocent man, one might dare to die but God proves His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
I don't think that I'll ever fully understand this love. This love that is so encompassing and forgiving and warm and peaceful and restorative and redemptive.
I think of all the potential dangers around me & mine each day and I realize that the fact that I can call up my parents, siblings and friends is a miracle in itself.
What a great God we serve, One who remains faithful even when we are faithless. One whose arm is not too short to save nor His ear deaf to hear.
This great God that loves you, how can you show Him some love in return this Holy week? How will you be like Mary who poured expensive perfume on the feet of Jesus? How will you show Him that He's priority this week?
I pray that as lent comes to a close, however it might have been for you(whether you think it was fruitful or not), you rest in the fact that you are loved. Loved exactly as you are without any changes.
Happy Holy week my people. Thank you for this community.
For the sake of Christ’s sorrowful passion, may God have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen
💡Bible verses for the week:
“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
-Romans 5:6-8 NIV
“Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume… “Leave her alone,”Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”
-John 12:3, 7-8 NIV
